Protests at the Democratic National Convention
It helps to be on the ground here to understand what the locals are talking about, at least in the papers. As far as I could decipher they have built a holding tank for protesters in a warehouse in downtown Denver. Razor wire atop the newly constructed cages has been taken down due to public outcry, replaced by an air conditioning system. It is supposed to be in the mid 80’s in Denver next week.
The bulk of the demonstration activity will be centered at the Denver Civic Center organized by Recreate ‘68, made up of local grassroots activists that proclaim their efforts are to resist the two party system that does not represent the people or their will. Hard to argue with that, these days. I’m sure I’ll be joining their numbers early and often. Activist training will be provided by this group though-out the week.
