Joe Biden - No Ordinary Time, No Ordinary Election

The choice of Joe Biden for Democratic VP has been well received. The energy and experience that Senator Biden brings to the ticket is easily seen through his interactions with Barrack and excitement in his speech. He provides the experience in foreign policy and appeal for white working class voters. He clearly is also going to be playing the role of bad cop and attack dog to go after McCain.  I see the strength of these two men together as their populous appeal and the vision of possibility they see for America and the world.

Resonate points from Bidden speech:

Energy

  • Change to the non-energy policy of Bush which has been written by energy industry
  • framed energy in national security terms
Foreign Policy
  • Extended language to alliances with other countries
Leadership
  • spoke to change in worldview and wise leadership
Finally, there was a bunch of noise on the news last night about the release of the VP news to the press prior to supporters getting the information by text message as promised in campaign communications. My friend Martin Tull, made the observation that the text coming out at 3AM in the morning may be a shot at the “Who are you going to call at 3AM?” Clinton campaign messaging. It may just be a coincidence, or it may have been a technical glitch. At any rate 3AM is a strange time, no matter where you are. Speaking of no ordinary time and 3AM, it makes me think of Drew Dellinger’s call to action in Hieroglyphic Stairway - “It’s 3:23 in the morning…” You can see Drew at multiple venues at the DNC. I will try to catch some video of him giving his unique take on “No Ordinary Time” through his lens of cosmology and social justice. Stay tuned.
